Daniel Dean Teckenburg was born in Denison, Iowa, April 1, 1943, the son of Joseph and Erna Summerfield Teckenburg. He was raised at Deloit and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1961. Dan was a lifelong resident of Deloit, purchasing his present farm in 1973. Following high school he began his career in maintenance at Farmland Foods in Denison and later managed a meat packing plant in Minnesota. He then was employed as maintenance supervisor at IBP in Storm Lake, Iowa, before transferring in the same position, to Tyson in Denison from which he retired in 2008. On April 28, 1993, Dan was united in marriage with Carol Bartholow in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they made their home on the farm at Deloit. He was happiest when working with anything mechanical, farming and enjoyed motorcycle trips. It was while doing what he loved, working on his farm, that Dan died Saturday afternoon, July 6, 2013, from injuries suffered in an ATV accident. At the time of his sudden death he had been blessed with 70 years, 3 months and 5 days. Including his parents, Joseph and Erna Teckenburg, Dan was also preceded in death by two brothers: one in infancy and David Teckenburg and one sister, Martha Teckenburg. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Teckenburg of Deloit, Iowa, two daughters: Sandra and husband Michael Remmes and Tonya and husband John Boomgarden of Bloomington, Illinois; stepchildren, 5 grandchildren, step-grandchildren, brothers, Daryl Teckenburg of Portland, Oregon and Donald Teckenburg of Hood River, Oregon, sisters, Janice Morgan of East Moline, Illinois,Kathleen Miller of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Loa Teckenburg of Rock Island, Illinois, other relatives and friends. In keeping with Dan’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
