Darlene J. Arnold

Darlene Joan Arnold was born on January 27, 1932 to John and Vivian (Sheeley) Huber in Irwin, Iowa. She attended Harlan schools and graduated with the Class of 1949.
On April 10, 1951, Darlene was united in marriage to Glen Arnold in Harlan, Iowa. They became parents to one son, Randy.
Darlene worked at Variety Distributors in Harlan and then spent eighteen years working for the school lunch program. She also worked at Brickyard Orchard and Booth Enterprises.
She loved to go camping and could say she camped in almost all the states between Canada and Arizona. Spending time with her grandkids was her favorite thing to do, especially when they helped her bake goodies. She liked to watch Joel Osteen on T.V. and always wanted to write a book on the evils of smoking.
Darlene had some health issues over the past few years but managed to keep a smile on her face until her death on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa. She had attained the age of eighty-two years, one month, and twenty-four days. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers John and Ray.
She is survived by her husband of nearly sixty-three years Glen Arnold of Harlan, Iowa; son Randy Arnold and his wife Karel of Maryville, Missouri; two grandchildren: Jamie and Garet; one great-grandson Noah; sisters Betty and her husband Otto Andersen of Harlan, Iowa and Joyce Simington of Oregon; other family members and friends.
Pastor Brian Taylor officiated the 2:00 PM Celebration of Life along with Randy Arnold on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Pastor Garet Arnold led the closing prayer. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Kirkman, Iowa.
