David Lee Flack (75) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and most recently living in Avoca, Iowa, unexpectedly joined his heavenly Father on November 21, 2023 after being involved in a vehicular accident.
Dave was born in Butler, Pennsylvania and grew up with his mother (Aline), father (Raymond), brother (Fred), and sister (Joyce). He attended Adrian College in Michigan where he studied business, dabbled in art, and met his future spouse Kathryn Gould. After graduating, Dave and Kathy got married and moved out to Colorado to start their new life together. Dave pursued his passion for the arts and worked in jewelry for the next 40 years, becoming a certified gemologist and diamontologist. Dave and Kathy’s love for the outdoors was strengthened by camping, hiking, and biking throughout Colorado and was further enjoyed with their faithful canine companions Brindy, Rainbow, Sammy, Annie, and Connie.
Dave’s love for the Lord was displayed daily through his kindness and through his passion for singing solos in church, leading the worship music, and participating in the choir. His family, and care for others, were truly the hallmark of his life and he exhibited this through his final days by working with members at the non-profit Concerned Inc. and keeping up with family and friends as much as possible. Everyone who knew him defined him as a friendly, genuine person who was always smiling and who gave amazing hugs.
Dave is survived by his wife Kathy and children Monica, Ryan (Melissa), Ben, and Brandon (Carolyn) along with 7 grandkids (Josiah, Grace, Noah, Lydia, Evan, Charlie, and Elijah).
His homecoming to heaven will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9th at 11am at First Presbyterian Church located at 406 Antique City Dr. Walnut, Iowa, 51577. There will be a visitation at the church Saturday morning before the service from 9am-10:30 for guests to have an opportunity to visit with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s name to Concerned Inc. or First Presbyterian Church.
