David Lynn Jorgensen, son of Robert and Leona (Holtz) Jorgensen was born on August 4, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Dave graduated from Avoca High School with the Class of 1966. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. During that time, he received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (Bronze Star) and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
On August 14, 1971, Dave was united in marriage to Patricia Wyatt at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. To this union, two children were born: Brandi and Christopher. Dave worked on a printing press at the International Gamco before his retirement in 2010. After retirement, Dave and Patti became “winter Texans” where they loved to spend time with their friends.
Dave was a member of the Avoca American Legion, Fred Funston Post No. 227 and the Avoca Optimist Club for many years. He enjoyed watching sports and was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Dave was an avid hunter and fisherman but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surrounded by his loving family, Dave died on March 5, 2019 at the Avoca Specialty Care Center attaining the age of seventy years, seven months and one day. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law John Petersen.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-seven years Patti Jorgensen of Avoca, Iowa; children Brandi and her husband Bill Wageman of Bennington, Nebraska; Chris Jorgensen and his wife Sandra of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Nathan and Davan Jorgensen of Omaha, Nebraska; Jordan Jorgensen of Phoenix, Arizona; Jacob, Josh, Katie, Hannah and Lindsey Wageman of Bennington, Nebraska; siblings Judy and her husband John Yeager of Sheridan, Wyoming; Bob Jorgensen and his wife Connie of Avoca, Iowa; Barb Petersen and her special friend Johnny Villegas of Manilla, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
