David M Olbertz

David M. Olbertz was born in Nebraska August 27, 1964, and adopted by Merlin and Flora Skarin Olbertz.  He was received into God’s Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism November 15, 1964, at Pacific Hills Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska and confirmed in his Christian Faith there on April 10, 1978.  During his early years, the family resided in Omaha, Nebraska, before moving to Denison where he graduated from high school.  Following his education, David was employed at various businesses in Denison until poor health forced his early retirement.He spent his retirement years in Denison where one of his greatest pastimes was tinkering with and driving his cherished 1987 Monte Carlo SS.  Other hobbies he enjoyed through the years include fishing and being outside, listening to Rock music and games of chance. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.David died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa.  At the time of his death he was blessed with 52 years and 1 month.David was preceded in death by his father, Merlin Olbertz.Those remaining to cherish his memory include two sons: Derek Olbertz of Storm Lake, Iowa and Jon Olbertz of Denison, Iowa; mother Flora Skarin Olbertz of Manilla, Iowa; sister Jill (Jamie) Flynn of Waukee, Iowa; nephews: Michael Feller and Matthew and Jason Flynn; uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser officiating.  Music for the service included three recorded vocal selections: “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagle’s Wings” and “It Is Well With My Soul”.  After cremation rites have been accorded a private family inurnment will be held at the Kiron Cemetery, Kiron, Iowa.The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, www.pfannebecker.com , Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements where a visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 30, 2016.
