David Gale Snell was born to Helen and Walter Snell in Chicago, Illinios on June 24, 1944. He grew up on Ridgewood Avenue in Lansing, Illinois where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He had a very good imagination and played games like Cowboys and Indians and war using baseball bats as rifles. He enjoyed learning how to play baseball from his dad and using those skills in little league, pony league and on his high school team. David also had fun playing basketball and joining cub scouts. He attended school first at Indiana Ave Grade School, then Memorial Junior High School and Thornton Fractional South High and lastly Illinois State where he obtained his Masters in Special Education.
David loved to play baseball, he even had a story about the time the White Sox offered him a position on the team but he turned them down so he could go to college. He liked watching the show Gunsmoke and He thoroughly enjoyed spending time and working outdoors.
David passed away peacefully at Accura Healthcare Center in Carroll, Iowa attaining the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen Snell.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Snell of Manning, IA; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Jack) Kenkel of Earling, IA, Janet (Phil) Blum of Earling, IA, Diane Weis of Bennington, NE; brothers-in-law, Tom (Carol) Gaul of McCausland, IA, Rick (Marietta) Gaul of Earling, IA, Jeff (Mary) Gaul of Council Bluffs, IA; other family members and friends.
