Dean Edwin Fabian, born March 18th, 1942, to parents Albert E. and Elva M. (Christensen) Fabian in Harlan, Iowa. He passed away peacefully at Cass County Memorial Hospital on August 22nd, 2023, surrounded by his wife and two children.
Dean graduated from Harlan Community High School and went on to work for Farm Service Coop, Peterson Brothers and other various farmers. Farming became his passion and he purchased his first farm north of Jacksonville. When Dean was 21, he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard and served from 1963 to 1969.
On May 29th, 1966, he was united in marriage with Jane Doonan, the love of his life. Three years after being married, they moved west of Elk Horn where they farmed and raised dairy cattle. In 1985, he retired from farming, moved to Elk Horn, and began working for Wilson’s Seeds, later Remington Seeds. In 2015, he retired.
Dean was a good friend to many and always willing to provide a helping hand. He was an active member of the Monroe Chapel Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching almost any type of sports. He loved to cheer on the Iowa State Cyclones, the Kansas City Chiefs and the LA Dodgers. His most cherished times were the ones spent with his family.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister Mary Ann, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Gaylord and Loretta Doonan, sister-in-law Linda Ahrenholtz, brother-in-law James Doonan, his nephew Dan Hogan, his niece Amber Chaney, and other extended family members.
Dean is survived by his wife Jane Fabian, his children Brad Fabian and Jodi (Chris) Topp, his grandchildren Austin Fabian and Alexis Fabian, his great-grandchildren Waylon Fabian and Landry Fabian, his sister Donna (Dick) Mortensen, his sister-in-law Denise (Dennis) Juhl, his sister-in-law Ann (Charles) Wolken, and many nieces and nephews.
