Delores Ann Krummel
April 1, 1933 — February 26, 2022
DeLores Ann Krummel was born on April 1, 1933 in Rural Hancock, Iowa to Harry and Edna (Brandes) Grobe. She was baptized at the Silver Creek Church in Hancock and was a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. DeLores attended grade school at the country school in Rural Hancock and then graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1951. After graduation, she became a nurses aide at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, until her marriage to Delbert.
DeLores met Delbert Krummel at a dance in Avoca, the two of them married on February 12, 1956 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. To this union 5 children were born: Dennis, Debra, Rebecca, Sheryl and Judith.
DeLores was a stay at home housewife and mother. She started working outside the home in 1977 at the Kopper Kettle Restaurant where she was a waitress for many years. She was well known for her card ministry, blessing friends, family and loved ones. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, traveling, playing bingo and serving at the church in many areas. Family was very important to her, she loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.
On Saturday, February 26, 2022, DeLores passed away surrounded by her loving family at Primrose Retirement Community in Council Bluffs, having attained the age of 88 years, 10 months and 25 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Edna Grobe; husband Delbert Krummel; brother Wilner Grobe and his wife Eileen; sister Barbara Morse and her husband Bob; brother-in-law Willis Krummel; and sisters-in-law Myrna Nelsen and Shirley Fritz.
Left to cherish her memory here on earth are her children Dennis (Tammy) Krummel of Hancock, Iowa; Deb (Kevin) Ohnoutka of Kansas City, Missouri; Rebecca (Bill) Darrington of Persia, Iowa; Sheryl (Steve) Carroll of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Judy (Mike) Wiggins of Neola, Iowa; 13 grandchildren: Derrek (Lauren) Krummel, Marissa Krummel, Rachael (Reese) Graue, Melissa (Chris) Bolek, Nathan (Heidi) Hood, Adam Hood, Laura Hood, Brayden (Navi) Darrington, Allison (Brandon) Finken, Jared Carroll, Katie (Will) Kearney, Ashley (Chris) Acker and Megan (Clayton) Kemnitz; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Grobe of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Bonnie Kardell and JoAnn Krummel both of Avoca, Iowa; brother-in-law Melvin Nelsen of Shelby, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
