Derald C. Cose was born February 10, 1924, the son of Clyde and Ruby Riggleman Cose at the farm home of his grandparents, Linc and Beatrice Riggleman, east of Deloit, Iowa. He was raised in the Deloit area where he received his education graduating from the Deloit High School with the class of 1944. On June 29, 1946, Derald was united in marriage with Ardeth Brown at Seneca, Kansas. Five children were born to this union, Gary, Gayle, Gordon, Marlane and Kevin. They made their home briefly at Missouri Valley, Iowa before moving to the Deloit area where Derald was employed in various construction jobs and as a farmhand. His work career ended at age 42 when he suffered a severe heart attack. Following his heart attack, the Cose?s moved to Deloit where they resided until moving to Denison in 1998. In earlier years Derald had served as a 4-H Leader, one term on the Deloit City Council, and while residing in the Deloit area, he was a member of the Vail Presbyterian Church. When his health permitted he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, his various pets, and being outside enjoying all nature had to offer. He spent countless patient hours cracking and picking out walnuts and shelling popcorn. His greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family. In August of 2006 Derald entered Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison after suffering a stroke and it was there his death occurred Thursday morning, October 23, 2008. At the time of his death he had been blessed with 84 years, 8 months and 13 days. Including his parents, Clyde and Ruby Cose, Derald was also preceded in death by one son, Gary and one great granddaughter, Jasmine Cose. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of over 62 years, Ardeth Cose of Denison, four children, Gayle Cose and wife, Judy of Denison, Gordon Cose and wife, Karla of Denison, Marlane and husband, Robert Riessen of Bennett, Colorado, and Kevin Cose of Denison, daughter-in-law, Veronica Cose of Casey, Iowa, 13 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren, 3 step great great grandchildren, two brothers, Darwin Cose of Forsyth, Missouri and Carter Cose of Tucson, Arizona, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2008, at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Brian K. Rihner officiating. Music for the service was provided by Kristy Zenk and Lisa Langholz singing "Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" with Ann Voggesser serving as organist. Honorary pallbearers included Chris Adams, Tasha Monthei, Shannon Cose, Amber Kring, Amanda Cose and Allison Cose. Pallbearers were grandsons, Cory Cose, Casey Cose, Jeff Cose, Jason Cose, Tyson Cose, Eric Riessen and Aaron Riessen. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Following the services the family invited all to return to the church and join them in fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the United Presbyterian Women. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
