Diane Marie Hess

Diane Marie Hess, daughter of Alfred and Joan (Schmidt) Leinen, was born on June 17, 1960 in Manning, Iowa. She was part of Harlan Community High School's Graduating Class of 1978. Diane was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling, lowa.
On December 31, 1977, Diane was united in marriage to Rodney Hess at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa. Two children were born to this union: Jeremy Ryan and Austin Michael. Diane raised her family in Harlan, where she dedicatedly poured herself into her career at Bauer's Shoe Store prior to serving in Environmental Services at Myrtue Medical Center.
Diane was passionate about serving others and was very involved with local support groups. She spent an abundance of her time outdoors, going on walks with her granddog Max, and tending to her yard and gardens. Diane valued her family and spent extra time with her siblings and parents. Diane often talked about Grandma Leinen and shared stories of her family traditions with her children and grandchildren. Diane was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them often with thoughtful gifts and delicious food. Diane enjoyed following her grandkids during sporting activities and was proud to talk about her family's accomplishments.
Diane is preceded in death by her father Alfred Leinen and by Rodney Hess, father to Jeremy and Austin. She is survived by her children Jeremy (Lindsey) Hess of Elkhorn, NE & their children Owen, Elizabeth, Andrew & Ila; Austin Hess (Lindsey Baughman) of Harlan, IA & her children Chloe & Kylie Baughman; mother Joan Leinen of Earling, IA; siblings Alan (Peggy) Leinen of Kansas City, MO; Sherry Leinen of Oregon; Rod (Colette) Leinen of Kansas City, MO: Chuck (Chris) Leinen of Colorado: Ann (Tim) Grave of Manilla, IA; Brenda (Pat) Kloewer of Defiance, IA; Lori (Ray) Brotherton of Denison.
