Diane G. Koesters
October 2, 1961 — April 8, 2015
Diane Geralyn Koesters was born on October 2, 1961 to Francis and Mary Ann (Gubbels) Koesters in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling where she remained a life-long member. She attended grade school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Harlan Community High School with the Class of 1980.
After high school, she worked at the Harlan Tribune and CDS before moving to Houston, Texas and then to Denver, Colorado, where she attended flight attendant school. She worked for Continental Airlines out of Denver for five years before moving back to Earling. She worked at Pizza Ranch in Harlan for fourteen years as a waitress, cook, and delivery driver.
When she was younger, Diane loved to play guitar. She always had a love of live music and going to concerts. Music always brought her comfort in difficult times, as did her cats that she loved so much.
She loved going out for dinner but also loved to cook and especially enjoyed making homemade potato salad. After living and working in Denver, it was no surprise that her favorite football team was the Denver Broncos. She enjoyed traveling and had made a few trips to Branson, Missouri.
Diane died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Earling, Iowa, on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the age of fifty-three years, six months, and six days. She was preceded in death by infant twin sisters Mary and Ann Koesters, infant brother Francis Koesters, and a stillborn brother.
She is survived by her parents Francis and Mary Ann Koesters of Earling, Iowa; sister Cindy and her husband Jim Scheuring of Defiance, Iowa; brothers James Koesters and Allan Koesters both of Earling, Iowa; special friend Vaughn Gross of Earling; other family members and many friends.
