Diane Lee Schuler
Diane Lee was born on January 21, 1932 to Paul and Francis (Whitney) Pedersen in Carroll, Nebraska. She was baptized at the English Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa on October 30, 1955. She went to Avoca Schools graduating in 1949. Growing up she was involved in a Campfire group and was in Rainbow.
Diane and Thomas M. Schuler married on August 13,1949 in Papillion, Nebraska. They were blessed with five children: Marvin, Natalie, Sheri, Lisa and Paula, and one foster son Russell Plank.
Diane and Thomas made their home in Oakland, Iowa. She was a farm wife who loved taking care of her family, she stayed home to raise her children and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa . After her children were grown she waitressed for awhile, retiring in 2001.
From 2011 to 2014 she lived at Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa and then from 2014 until her death she lived at Elm Crest in Harlan, Iowa.
Diane died on Saturday March 28, 2015 at her home at Elm Crest in Harlan, Iowa having attained eighty three years, two months and seven days. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Thomas of Harlan, Iowa; children: Marvin Schuler and his wife Donna of Avoca, Iowa; Natalie and her husband John Felhofer of Hudson, Wisconsin; Sheri and her husband George Chrouser of Stratford, Wisconsin; Lisa and her husband Tim “Wally” Schulz of West Bend, Wisconsin and Paula and her husband Randy Dreyer of Luxemburg, Wisconsin; nineteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; one great grandchild; and foster son: Russell Plank and his wife Sylvia of Boise, Idaho.
A Celebration of Life Service was held for Diane on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. Honorary Casket Bearers were Allie Skelton, Carrin Brewer, L Donna Schuler, Tammy Schuler and Franny LeKander; Casket Bearers were: Nancy Miles, Adrienne Bahazyski, Tara Dunning, Deanna Hoversten, Jenny Schuler and Ashley Skelton. Burial will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca, Iowa.
