Donald "Don" Dee Grabill was born on September 27, 1934 to Gale and Martha (Ericksen) Grabill in Harlan, Iowa. He attended country school in Center Township and received his GED.

On May 25, 1953, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Hansen in Omaha, Nebraska. Five children were born to this union: Paul "Pudge", Dale, LeAnn, Robert, and Lisa.

He farmed for ten years and worked at the Co-Op Elevator for a few years before going into sales for Harlan Builders.

During his retirement, Don worked at Klausner Furniture Factory. He enjoyed coffee with the guys, playing cards with friends and his favorite passion was night fishing. He finally got to try parasailing this past summer and had been through some flight training although he never received his pilot’s license. He loved old-time country music and always wanted to play guitar.

Don passed away at the Hill Top Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Saturday, November 24, 2012, having attained the age of seventy-eight years, one month, and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert, and his grandson Keegan.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Bonnie Grabill of Milford, Iowa; his children: Paul "Pudge" Grabill and his wife Bev of Harlan, Iowa, Dale Grabill of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, LeAnn and her husband Steve Crawley of San Jose, California, and Lisa and her husband Lance Neve of Bennington, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Michelle, Jill, Megan, and Riley; one great-grandchild Carson; brothers Johnny Grabill and his wife Marilyn of Hillsboro, Oregon and Charles Grabill and his wife Twyla of Harlan, Iowa; twin sister LaDonna and her husband Jack Noble of Haines City, Florida, other family members and many friends.

Pastor Bob Vaage and Pastor Perry Aalgaard officiated the 11:00 AM memorial service on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Milford, Iowa. Music was provided by Arlene Hoffman, Diane McMillian, and Tim Schumacher. The family greeted friends at a luncheon on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan. A private inurnment followed at the Harlan Cemetery.
