Donna L. Felker
January 28, 1923 — August 19, 2008
Donna Lee Felker, daughter of Floyd C. And Maude Stanley Williamson, was born on January 28, 1923 in Nemeha County, Kansas and was one of five children. She graduated from Mayetta Kansas High School in 1940 and began working as a domestic and as a store clerk in Holton, Kansas.
On January 3, 1942, Donna was united in marriage to Oliver Charles Felker in Emporia, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Virginia, Patricia, David, and Joyce. After their wedding, Donna and Oliver lived in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. After moving to several other Nebraska communities, they moved to Avoca, Iowa in 1958, which was home for forty-four years, and continued to farm and raise cattle. They moved to the Clarinda, Iowa area in 2002 when Oliver�s health made it necessary for them to leave the farm.
Donna was always interested in homemaking, and enjoyed reading, sewing, and crafts. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women�s Group, Eastern Star, Women�s Federated Club, Craft Club, the Neighborhood Card Club, and was a past 4-H leader. She had many interests including flowers, gardening, and collecting Porcelain Dolls, cups and saucers, birds and bird plates. Later in life, Donna enjoyed Bible study groups and listening to music. She loved her Maker, Church, friends and was happiest when the family was together on any occasion. Those who knew and loved her will miss her.
Donna died on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, Iowa, having attained the age of eighty-five years, six months, and twenty-two days. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband , Oliver, of sixty-one years; her son David Lee; her grandson Daniel Chadwell; her great-granddaughter Alexie Webb; her brothers: Stanley, Floyd, and Kenneth Williamson; her sister Aileen McBride; and her son-in-law James E. Shiffer.
She is survived by her three daughters Virginia and her husband Harold Chadwell of Columbus, Nebraska; Patricia and her husband Donald Schnitker of Clarinda, Iowa; and Joyce Shiffer and her husband Gary Van Horn of Oakland, Iowa; four grandchildren: Ann Schnitker Webb, Donnie Schnitker, Katie Chadwell, and James Derek Shiffer; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other family members and many friends.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa with Kris Davies officiating the 10:00 AM service. Burial was held at Sabetha City Cemetery in Sabetha, Kansas at 2:30 PM on Thursday. Serving as honorary casket bearers were: Curt Webb, Gary Van Horn, James Shiffer, Donnie Schnitker, Harold Chadwell, and Donald Schnitker.
