Donna Lee (Gibson) Lansman was born on August 28, 1934 to Harry and Alice (Hughes) Gibson near Portsmouth, Iowa. She attended Tennant Consolidated Schools and graduated from Tennant High School in May of 1952.
On November 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Harold Duane Lansman at the United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Debra, Diane, and Howard.
In addition to helping Harold farm and raising three children, Donna was a 4-H leader for the Monroe Merry Makers. Donna joined Harold as an active member of the Calvary Baptist church in Walnut, Iowa. Donna served in many capacities over the course of fifty-nine years, including Vacation Bible School, church pianist, Sunday School Secretary, and a host of other roles necessary to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Donna spent her final Sunday, March 17th, serving as the pianist.
Donna worked at Nelson Farm Supply as the bookkeeper beginning in 1980 and retired in 2005. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed seeing her grandchildren participate in athletics, music, and scholastics. She loved baking for friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing and completing crosswords and other puzzles.
Donna died in her home on Sunday, March 17, 2013 having attained the age of seventy-eight years, six months, and seventeen days. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Duane Lansman, her parents, Harry and Alice (Hughes) Gibson, and her sister-in-law Joanne Gibson.
She is survived by her children: Debra and her husband Paul Ladd of Boone, Iowa, Diane and her husband Jonathan Darling of Ankeny, Iowa, and Howard Lansman and his wife Tara of Harlan, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Joshua and Allyson Ladd, Evan, Karen, and Drew Darling, and Luke, Seth, Trey, and Will Lansman; brother Gerald Gibson of Sioux City, Iowa; nieces and nephews, and friends.
Rev. Paul Hutchins officiated the 10:30 AM funeral service on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Helen Warren accompanied vocalists Deb Martin and Madison Hamilton. Serving as casket bearers were Joshua Ladd, Evan Darling, Allyson Ladd, Luke Lansman, Karen Darling, Seth Lansman, Trey Lansman, Drew Darling, and Will Lansman. Interment was held in the Harlan Cemetery.
