Donna Mae Murray
May 23, 1932 — March 17, 2011
Donna Mae Murray, daughter of Iliff Lee and Nellie Christine (Petersen) Fiscus, was born May 23, 1932 in Polk Township in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended country school near Corley and later attended Harlan High School.
On March 21, 1952, Donna was united in marriage to James Jay Murray at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Iowa. They were the parents of three children: Vicki, Ronald and Kristi.
Donna spent much of her working career in the restaurant industry. She worked at several restaurants and cafe�s in the Harlan and Irwin areas including owning the J & D Caf� in Kimballton from 1980 to 1982. She also worked at the Harlan House Caf� for three years as well.
Donna was a big Elvis fan and also enjoyed country music and attended concerts when her favorite artists were in the area. After her retirement, Donna made her home in Harlan and Denison until December of 2009 when she made her home in the Elm Crest Retirement Community.
Donna entered Hospice Care at the Myrtue Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 17, 2011 where she later died that same evening having attained the age seventy-eight years, nine months and twenty-two years. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her three children: Vicki and her husband Kevin "Hoss" Krohn of Harlan, Ronald Jay Murray of Jacksonville, Iowa and Kristi Jo Murray of Lake Elsinore, California; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Pastor Ron Rasmussen officiated the 2:00 PM Graveside Service at the Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, Iowa, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Honorary casket bearers were Connie White, Janet Fry, Ardith Forsyth, and Melva Fiscus. Serving as casket bearers were Keith Fiscus, Wade Fiscus, Randy Fiscus, Larry Kolb, Terry Fiscus, and Kelly Fiscus.
