Dorothy Mae Huseman was born on December 19, 1930 to Wayne and Dode Anderson in Alta, Iowa. She graduated from Alta High School and attended and graduated from Iowa Teacher's College, which later became known as the University of Northern Iowa. On June 6, 1960, she was married to Darrel Huseman. They moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where Dorothy taught fourth grade at Duncombe Elementary School until her retirement.
Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing games on her iPad and computer, watching football and basketball games and keeping in touch with all of her buddies from her teaching days. Most recently, Dorothy's favorite thing to do was taking road trips with Angie's mother, Judy, to visit Brad, Angie, and Savanna and watch Savanna in her athletic and musical competitions. Dorothy lived with Brad and his family a couple months this fall and became great friends with their dogs Lily Mae and especially Cadillac.
Dorothy died on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center in Avoca, Iowa, having attained the age of eighty-three years, eleven days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrel "Dob", brother Dick Anderson, brothers-in-law Merle "Moose" Huseman and Forrest Hausman; and sisters-in-law Iona Hausman, Lola Radke, and Peggy Huseman.
She is survived by her son Brad (Angie) Huseman of Minden, IA; granddaughter Savanna Mae of Minden; sisters-in-law: Shirley Andersen of Cherokee, IA and Faye Peterson of Alta, IA; brother-in-law Dutch (Joyce) Huseman of Fort Dodge, IA.
