Dorothy M. Mosher
July 31, 1924 — October 16, 2017
Dorothy Mae Mosher, daughter of Peter and Anna (Larsen) Rattenborg, was born on July 31, 1924 in Kimballton, Iowa. She was baptized at Kimballton Lutheran Church. Her schooling started in Kimballton, until her family moved to Harlan, where she graduated with the class of 1942.
On May 19, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gail Mosher at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan. Four children were born to this union: Lynn, Randy, Reid, and Rebecca.
She was a loving and kind mother and wife. Dorothy and Gail enjoyed golfing together and traveling to visit their children and grandchildren. As a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Dorothy also served in the Women’s Circle, was a Luther League Sponsor and in most recent years she quilted with the quilting group. She was involved in the community with serving as a 4H Leader and United Way Volunteer.
Dorothy died at the Avoca Specialty Care Center in Avoca, Iowa on Monday, October 16, 2017, attaining the age of ninety-three years, two months and sixteen days. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years Gail Mosher, her parents and sister Kathleen Rattenborg.
She has left to cherish her memory, her children Lynn and her husband Jack McDowell of Evansdale, Iowa; Randy Mosher of Lanai City, Hawaii; Reid and his wife Linda Mosher of Harlan, Iowa; Rebecca McCleery of Knoxville, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Shirley Boysen of Griswold, Iowa; daughter-in-law Pam Mosher Okoboji, Iowa; nephews Ron and his wife Pat Mosher of Harlan, Iowa; Bob Simpson of Denver, Colorado; other family members and many friends.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Immanuel Lutheran Quilting Group or Care Initiative Hospice.
