Douglas J Burton (Doug) January 11, 1961, passed away peacefully at his place of residence in Walnut, IA, on Monday, May 16, 2022. Doug is preceded in death by his parents Gerald (Jerry) and Patricia (Pat) Burton, sisters, Debra (Debbie) Comer, Vickie Chval, grandparents, Orey and Marble Burton, Gerald and Myrtle Winebrenner, uncles, Dale Bass, Charles (Charlie) Burton, Jimmie Winebrenner, Bob and (wife) Sharon Winebrenner, Nine Beck, aunt, Gladys (Sissy) Daniel and cousins, James Daniel and Randy Winebrenner. Doug is survived by, sister Lori, and husband Theodore (Ted) Barnes, uncles, Richard (Anne) Burton, Jerry Dean (Becky) Winebrenner, aunts, Sue Burton, Dorothy Beck, Joyce (Donald) Brown, Martha (Terry) Burns, many cousins, and friends. Doug was born in Omaha Nebraska. He was a 1979 graduate of Omaha North High. With the love of nature and animals, Doug's dream was to be a Forest Ranger. His love of animals started at an early age with bringing home stray dogs, cats and much to his mother's disapproval Gardner Snakes! Over the years, Doug found joy outdoors, feeding the birds, peanuts to squirrels, corn for deer. He enjoyed, fishing with his dad, camping, gardening of both vegetables and flowers, water rafting and sitting outside taking nature in, with either an early morning sunrise or by a fire pit watching the sunset. Doug enjoyed cooking, grilling, (he was a wonderful cook) he even made his own salsa from the vegetables he grew. Doug's dream of being a Forest Ranger unfortunately, did not come true, but he lived his life embracing the outdoors as much as possible. Doug was also a huge Nebraska CORNHUSKER fan! Sometimes, this didn't go over very well, since he lived in IA. No matter what, he displayed his love and loyalty through NE lawn decor, apparel, home decor, and even NE apparel for his animals. Doug's wishes were cremation, to have no service and bring him back home, to Omaha NE. And place his remains by a lake, Missouri River or of course out among the nature, that he loved so much. I will do my best to fulfill my brother's wishes.
NKJV - John 5:24-25 24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
**There will be no service or celebration of life. I ask those who knew Doug, could you take a moment and look back on a memory you have of him. In thought, we would come together and he will be remembered.
Sincerely
My appreciation
Doug's lil Sis -
