Doyle Larson
February 1, 1963 — December 4, 2017
Doyle Merrill Larson, son of Rodger M. and Marlene Mae (Hollander) Larson, was born on February 1, 1963 in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized on February 24, 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa and confirmed on March 28, 1978 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron, Iowa. Doyle attended Kiron Elementary, then Denison Middle School graduating from Denison High School with the class of 1981 where he participated in almost every sport the school offered. Doyle grew up with two younger brothers and the three of them were extremely competitive and spent countless hours in the back yard Larson Sports Complex with the neighborhood kids honing their athletic skills.
After high school, Doyle attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. In 1986, Doyle began his career as a quality assurance inspector with IBP which he held until 2000. In 2001, he held the same position with Farmland who he was with until 2011. He had a “man cave” dedicated to all his favorite college and pro teams: the Northwestern Red Raiders, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas City Royals and of course the Minnesota Vikings. He also had a great memory and stored countless statistics from almost any sport. Doyle also loved Christmas and the time he was able to spend with family. He also kept in close contact with his nieces and nephews to follow their activities.
On June 12, 2010, Doyle was united in marriage to Connie Brasel at Mount Vernon Country Club in Golden, Colorado. He gained a daughter and son-in-law Linsey and Matthew Felix. He later became a grandpa to little Evan. Doyle and Connie moved to Colorado and lived for four years before Doyle became sick and came back to Iowa.
Doyle died surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, attaining the age of fifty-four years, ten months and three days.
He is survived by his wife Connie Larson of Centennial, Colorado; daughter Linsey and her husband Matthew Felix of Roxborough, Colorado; grandson Evan Matthew Felix; his parents Rodger and Marlene Larson of Kiron, Iowa; brothers Scott Larson and his wife Marcy of Denison, Iowa; Todd Larson and his wife Angela of Yankton, South Dakota (nieces Klaire Adaline and Emery Kay); niece Amy and Jeff Storlie (great niece and nephew Nellie Ann and Joseph Jeffery); Bret and Andrea Larson (great niece and nephews Madilyn June, Bryce Allan, Bryant James); other family members and many friends.
