Eleanor Caroline Brown, daughter of Edward and Caroline (Bergman) Wise, was born on March 24, 1922 in Pleasant Township, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca, Iowa. Eleanor graduated from Shelby High School with the Class of 1940. After graduation, she attended Van Sant School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.
On April 8, 1942, Eleanor was united in marriage to Wilbert Brown at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca. To this union, five children were born: Gary, James, Rosann, Randy and Gregory. Eleanor and Wilbert farmed southeast of Shelby, Iowa from 1943 until retiring in 1985. In 1979, Eleanor and Wilbert moved into the town of Avoca, Iowa. Eleanor and Wilbert were lifelong members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Eleanor was a hardworking, loving, caring farm wife and mother. She loved gardening, cooking, and sewing and had an unlimited partnership with her husband, Wilbert. The love and devotion she extended to her husband and family was unending. She became an avid reader in her retirement years which she passed on to the next generation of Browns. There simply are not enough words to describe the loving, beautiful soul of Eleanor Caroline Brown.
Surrounded by her family, Eleanor died on Friday, March 1, 2019 at her home in Avoca attaining the age of ninety-six years, eleven months and five days. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step mother Rose Mary Kueny, husband Wilbert, grandson James Brown Jr, and siblings Margaret Allen, Mildred Hayhurst, Joseph Wise, Katherine Kohlscheen and Dorothy Stevens.
Left to cherish her memory, her children Gary Brown and his wife Nancy of Hastings, Nebraska; James Brown and his wife Connie of Walnut, Iowa; Rosann Nauman and her husband James of Avoca, Iowa; Randy Brown and his wife Linda of Omaha, Nebraska; Gregory Brown of Dunlap, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister Mary Clare Klindt; other relatives and many friends.
