Elizabeth Jane Galbraith, daughter of Howard and Lila (Bray) Boeck, was born April 5, 1935, at Manilla, IA. In 1941 the family moved to Denison and in 1952 out to Riverside, CA where Elizabeth graduated with the class of 1953. After graduation, Elizabeth enlisted in the Navy and served her country from 1955 to 1957.
On November 2, 1957, she married Alfred Linn Galbraith at Norfolk, VA and to this union 6 children were born. Alfred and Elizabeth moved to California after marrying and lived in the Long Beach area, Cypress, and San Diego, but ended up settling in Cypress. While in California, Elizabeth came to accept Christ as her savior at the Stanton Church of the Nazarene. The church became her home and she served in many capacities which included organist and choir director. She worked as a bookkeeper for a stationary store and homemaker most of her years there and in 1988 they moved to Denison, IA where she worked at WESCO and taught adult education classes. She attended the New Life Christian Fellowship Assembly of God Church in Denison.
Elizabeth loved music and spent her time crocheting and sewing along with cooking for her family and friends. She spent many wonderful years at Oakwood Apartments among friends and eventually moved to the Reed House and then Eventide. She died at Crawford County Memorial Hospital on October 29, 2017, having attained the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant twin daughters, sisters: Letha Sandweiss and Mary Boeck, sister-in-law, Joan Boeck, and grandchildren: David Simpkins and Emily Jane Kerr.
She is survived by her children: Lissa and husband Ron Simpkins of Murrieta, CA, Wally Galbraith of Kent, WA, Susan and husband Dana Kerr of Smith River, CA, Louise Galbraith of Denison, IA; brothers: David Boeck of St. Mary’s, GA and Jeffry Boeck of Spokane, WA; sister, Kay and husband Robert Duncan of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren: Heather, Andrew, Kristopher, Robert and Kenneth; 6 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
