Ellen Marie Linden
June 19, 1930 — January 27, 2022
Ellen Marie Linden, daughter of Andrew and Elsie Charlotte (Peterson) Sorensen was born June 19, 1930 on the family farm outside of Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Tenant. She attended Tenant High School, graduating with class of 1948.
On February 21, 1950, Ellen was united in marriage to Douglas William Linden at the Methodist Church in Tenant. To this union four children were born: Barbara, Sandra, Mary, and Brian. Ellen loved working with numbers and worked several years for Iowa Farm Business Association doing taxes. When they moved from the Walnut Farm into Harlan, she started working for Harlan National Bank. She was always willing to help Douglas on the farm, even when it involved pulling a tractor out of a muddy feedlot.
Ellen and Douglas loved to camp and spent many weekends camping. They also enjoyed taking the grandkids along. Ellen loved to quilt. She made quilts for all of her family plus many others. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church from 1962 until 1975 then she became a member for First Baptist Church the remaining of her life. To Ellen her family was her everything.
She died on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, attaining the age of ninety-one years, seven months, and eight days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Douglas, children Barbara, Mary, and Brian, son-in-law Jeff Lansman, granddaughter Angela Rose Lansman, siblings Wayne Sorensen and Dale Sorensen.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra Lansman of Harlan, Iowa; grandchildren Kristofer (Ashley) Lansman of Harlan, Iowa; Matthew Lansman of Harlan, Iowa; Nicole (Brent) Soyer of Glidden, Iowa; great grandchildren Emmet Lansman, Cooper Lansman, Charlotte Lansman, Zachary Beister, and one on the way in April; siblings Vivian Lytle of Harlan, Iowa; Myron Sorensen of Harlan, Iowa; Lynn Sorensen of Des Moines, Iowa; Stan Sorensen of Cinninnati, Ohio; brother-in-law Howell McClure of Kingfield, Maine; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
