Emogene Feauto, daughter of William and Emma (Kruger) Immens, was born on September 1, 1926 in Excelsior Township, Lake Park, Iowa. She was the youngest of fourteen children in the family. She graduated from high school in Harris, Iowa with the Class of 1945. Emogene was always proud that six of her seven brothers all served in the war at the same time.
She was united in marriage to Armond Feauto on February 17, 1947 in Worthington, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union: LuJean, Loren, Paul, and Steve. The family moved to Oakland, Iowa in 1969 when Armond started working at American Beef Packers. The family also spent some time in Council Bluffs, but eventually, Emogene and Armond ended up in Omaha for medical reasons.
Emogene enjoyed collecting bells, as well as anything with birds on it; she also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She had a great sense of humor, and although she never had a drivers license, she rarely missed church. She and Armond were lifelong members of St. Marys Catholic Church in Avoca and often volunteered to help with whatever they could. Emogenes children and grandchildren meant the world to her; she thought of them often, and always sent birthday or holiday cards early.
Emogene died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at The Waterford at Roxbury Park Assisted Living and Retirement in Omaha, Nebraska having attained the age of eighty-six years, four months, and five days. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Loren, her parents, and her siblings: Bill, Hank, John, Fred, Chris, Ed, Nona, Anna, Alice, Helen, Lois, Jack and Ruth.
She is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Armond Feauto of Omaha, Nebraska; her children: LuJean Feauto of Omaha, Paul Feauto and his wife Connie of Papillion, Nebraska, and Steve Feauto and his wife Nancy of Oakland, Iowa; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
