Eric Walter Bongers

Eric Walter Bongers was born on November 14, 1958 to Henry and Glenda (Anderson) Bongers in Quebec, Canada. In 2014 he received his GED and was proud to become a Naturalized Citizen of the United States of America.
He married Kathy Jane Hillard on February 14, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eric embraced Kathy’s children and grandchildren as his own. They made their home in Sheridan, Indiana.
Eric was a truck driver for approximately 30 years in Canada and the United States of America. Since 2015 he was employed with Ace Doran located in Georgia transporting windmill towers out of Illinois. When Eric was not traveling, he was a motorcycle enthusiast enjoying excursions with his wife on his Harley and built two bikes. He was active and belonged to the Harley Owners Group in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also reveled in tinkering on his truck keeping it road worthy for the next load. Eric loved to spend time with family, especially with grandchildren going to events and playing around.
Eric died on October 22, 2016 at the Flying J Truck Stop in Avoca, Iowa having attained fifty-seven years, eleven months, and eight days. He is preceded in death by his parents. Eric is survived by his wife Kathy Bongers of Sheridan; step-son Jeremy Voss and his wife Jennifer of Carmel, Indiana; step-daughter Alicia Voss of Westfield, Indiana; step-grandchildren Mikhail Voss; Amaya Voss; Caelynn Voss; Evan Voss; Jenaya Voss; brother Michael Bongers and his wife Gloria of Kitchener Ontario, Canada; sister Ingrid and her husband Greg Peters of Kitchener Ontario, Canada; brother Edward Bongers and his wife Charmaine of Kitchener Ontario, Canada; brother Paul Bongers and his wife Brenda of Kitchener Ontario, Canada; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A Memorial Service for Eric will be held at First United Methodist Church of Sheridan on December 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be directed to the family.
