Eric Khiev
February 7, 1986 — September 12, 2018
Eric Khiev was born February 7, 1986 at Oakland, California, the son of John Khien and Khorn Chum. He was raised and attended schools in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High with the class of 2004.
In 2011, Eric moved to Denison, Iowa with family members and started working at Smithfield Foods. He worked there for several years until he was diagnosed with double kidney failure. He was then put on dialysis for the next six years. During this time Eric came to know the Lord and was baptized in his faith at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Eric was a very genuine person, caring about everyone and nice to all. He was a smart young man and always supportive of his family and friends. He loved playing poker and swimming and was an avid sports lover. He enjoyed watching tennis, basketball and football with the San Francisco 49ers and Golden State Warriors being his favorites.
After receiving a kidney transplant, Eric passed away on September 12, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother Khorn Chum.
He is survived by his father and his wife, John Khien and Sochet Kimpho of Denison, Iowa; brothers and sisters: Lonnie Khiev of Denison, Iowa, Sokhonn Khiev, Chantha Khiev and Chanthan Khiev of Oakland, California, Dararath Khiev of Denison, Iowa, Nicholas Khiev and Joshua Khiev of Oakland, California, and Alan Khien of Denison, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
