Ernest Albert Jensen was born on March 28, 1918 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Martin and Marie (Dahl) Jensen.
He was united in marriage to Berdine Holm of Minden on April 22, 1939 in Papillion, Nebraska. One son, Jimmy, was born to this union.
Ernest worked with his father-in-law Adolph Holm in his construction business until Adolph�s death. Ernest then started his own company, Jensen Construction Company. He built many houses in the area, the United Church of Christ, and the educational wing of the church. He did a lot of remodeling work on every house in town after a category four tornado struck Minden in June of 1976.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Minden and helped make ice cream at the church socials. He loved to play cards and golf. Ernest spent many winters in Tuscan, Arizona, and was able to visit his brother and his granddaughter while there. He liked to travel and went many times to Florida with his friends.
Ernest became a resident of Little Flower Haven nursing home in Earling, Iowa, in February of 2000 and it was there that he died on Saturday, January 31, 2009, having attained the age of ninety years, ten months, and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his son.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law Joyce Jensen and her fianc� Mark White of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his grandson Jarel Jensen and his wife Shari of Omaha, Nebraska; his granddaughter Jayleen Jensen and fianc� Sam Casano of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren; his brothers Frode Jensen and his wife Melba of Minden, Iowa and Clarence "Mike" Jensen and his wife Louise also of Minden; other family members and friends.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, with Pastor Brian Wohlhuter leading the 11:00 AM service at the United Church of Christ in Minden, Iowa. Serving as casket bearers were Steve Clawson, Jeremy McDermott, Richard Jensen, Tom Jensen, Wade Andersen, Carroll Olsen, and James Handy with interment held at the Minden Cemetery
