Eunice Assmann was born on February 2, 1925 to Charles and Julia (Dressen) Miller on the family farm one half mile west of Earling, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1942. She received normal training and began teaching country school.
