Eunice Josephine Goetzinger
August 22, 1930 — August 12, 2017
Eunice Josephine Heithoff Goetzinger, daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Kroeger) Heithoff, was born August 22, 1930 in Elgin, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, Nebraska. She attended St. Boniface School graduating with the class of 1948. After high school, Eunice went on to earn her LPN in Omaha, Nebraska.
On August 20, 1960, Eunice was united in marriage to Charles Michael Goetzinger at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin. After marriage, the couple made their home in Defiance, Iowa where they remained for over forty six years. One daughter, Julie was born to this union.
Eunice went to work for Bank Iowa in Manilla, Iowa as a bank teller for seventeen years. She also worked as an Activities Coordinator at Manilla Manor. Eunice retired in the late 1990's. In 2010 she made her home in Harlan, Iowa before moving to Nevada, Iowa in 2012.
Eunice enjoyed spending her time scrapbooking, visiting the nursing homes and talking to the elderly. She loved going to the casino. She especially loved time spent with her daughter, grandkids and great-grandkids, she attended every sporting event.
Eunice died on Saturday, August 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Story County Senior Care Facility in Nevada, Iowa, attaining the age of eighty-six years, eleven months and twenty-one days. In addition to her parents, she was proceed by her husband, Charles Goetzinger, and her siblings Lita Tunic and Donald Heithoff.
She has left to cherish her memory, daughter Julie Tigges of Nevada, Iowa; grandsons Jamie McCullough, his wife Amy and their two children Maddox and Mason of Adel, Iowa; Jesse McCullough of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Justin Tigges of Council Bluffs; foster daughter Rhonda Richards of Moorhead, Iowa; honorary daughter Sandy Thomas of Nevada, Iowa; siblings Audrey Miller of Omaha, Nebraska; Yvonne Heithoff of Neligh, Nebraska; Louis Heithoff of Elgin, Nebraska; Lorene Stuhr of Elgin; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
