Evelyn Irene Frampton
September 9, 1925 — December 5, 2014
Evelyn Irene Frampton, daughter of Homer and Mary (Hazard) Jensen, was born September 9, 1925 in a little house in Elk Horn, Iowa. She grew up around the Elk Horn and Harlan area and attended school through the 9th grade at Harlan High School.
She waitressed at the Danish Inn in Elk Horn, drove a school bus for the Harlan schools and for many years she cleaned houses. Along with her sister Elinor, they helped with patients in the old Harlan Hospital. Her greatest love was painting and wall papering with her dad, and after they finished a days work treated themselves to a piece of pie and coffee before going home.
On May 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lowell Herbert Frampton. Three children were born from this union: Craig Allen, James Arthur and Dixie Jean.
She loved to cook, bake, play cards, bowling and remodeling houses. She helped her sister make quilts and she spent evenings cross-stitching quilts for many babies. She loved reading her bible and going to the women’s bible study. This was an example of having a natural gift of caring for people that were sick, hurting or just in need of help.
Evelyn died at the Salem Lutheran in Elk Horn having attained the age of eighty-nine years, two months and twenty-six days. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister Elinor, a niece Eileen, a nephew Brian, daughter-in-law Ellen Christine Frampton and a brother-in-law Elmer C. Jensen.
She is survived by her children: Craig Frampton and a his wife Cindy of Ozark, Missouri; Jim Frampton and his wife Jannie of Audubon, Iowa; Dixie and her husband Jim Nelson of Manilla, Iowa; grandchildren: Travis Frampton and his wife Tonya of Abilene, Texas; Brian Frampton and his wife Jamie of Mobile, Alabama; Bridget and her husband Pat Obermeier of Audubon, Iowa; Rene and her husband Brian Rustvold of Audubon; Rachel and her husband Dennis Riesberg of Baily, Colorado; Justin Frampton and his wife Dani of Grimes, Iowa; great grandchildren: Blake, Ben and Brody Frampton; Cooper and Walker Frampton; Brittni and her husband Cody Williams; Kyra and Sydney Obermeier; Harley, Aspen and Parker Riesberg; Bristol and Macyn Frampton; sister Frances Jensen of Harlan, Iowa; brother Ronald Jensen and his wife Kathy of Branson, Missouri; brother-in-law Rae Murray of Harlan; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
