Evelyn McMinemee, daughter of Nick and Emma (Christensen) Ohl, on January 1, 1922 on a farm Boyer Township no. 2 in Crawford County. She was baptized on January 5, 1922 and confirmed on April 14, 1935 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa by Rev. Frehse. Her memory confirmation verse was “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew: 18-20 She received her education in school district No. 2 Boyer Township, where F.N. Olry was superintendent.
Evelyn was home helping until united in marriage to Wayne McMinemee on August 6, 1941 at Bethlehem Lutheran in Dow City, Iowa. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska until March 1942, they settled on a farm in East Boyer Township. On November 23, 1989, they moved to the town of Denison, Iowa still active in farming. The couple was blessed with four children: Marilyn, Barbara, Kathleen and Michael.
Evelyn dedicated her life to her family. Helping in time of need to six family members until the end of their time. Her days were caring for her family, cooking meals for helpers, working in the great outdoors in the vegetable and flower gardens. Doing chores which were many, helping in the fields, milking cows, farrowing sows, taking care of all the animals. She was always there for family and friends. She liked country and polka music. She was a home person always there in the time of need. She was a life time member of the Zion Lutheran Church and helped with the Ladies Aid.
Evelyn died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, attaining the age of ninety-five years, eight months, and twelve days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne McMinemee, daughter Barbara DeCosmo, siblings Leona Naslund, Ferris Ohl, and Maynard Ohl.
She is survived by her children Marilyn Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa; Kathleen Armstrong of El Cajon, California; Michael McMinemee and his wife Jena of Denison, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
