Everette Henry Carroll, son of John and Lola (Rock) Carroll, was born on July 20, 1941 in Avoca, Iowa. He graduated from AvoHa High School in 1959. Following graduation, Everette joined the Iowa National Guard. He also helped his dad farm. He was married to Barbara Palermo in 1963, but the two of them went their separate ways. After his divorce he attended Northwest Missouri State, graduating in 1969, and received his Master's Degree from Creighton in 1973. He was then united in marriage to Mary Ellen Davis until her death in 1975.

In 1969, he began teaching in Harlan, mainly Algebra, for the next 30 years, retiring in 1999, all the while continuing to farm. During his teaching tenure, Everette was united in marriage to Sandra Hummel on August 8, 1981, at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland, Iowa. He worked for Farm Service Agency after his retirement where he enjoyed working outside measuring grain bins. He was a Trustee of Fairview Township, a member of the Harlan Library Board, and served on the East Pottawattamie County Fair Board. He was a dedicated member of the Fred Funston American Legion Post in Avoca, where he held the offices of Commander and Chaplain, and was a member of the Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge in Avoca.

Everette enjoyed following his sons' musical activities, their scouting careers and was also a Scout Leader. He enjoyed playing cards with his family, especially, Euchre, 500, and occasionally Schafkopf. He loved to read, especially mysteries and westerns. He loved the serene beauty of his cabin on Black Hawk Lake and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Everette passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the exact home he was born in on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, having attained the age of 82 years, 11 months and 19 days. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lola; sisters Lorene, Mildred, Bertha, Betty, Dorothy and Judy; and brothers Kenneth and Wilbur.

Left to remember the memories made here on earth are his wife Sandra Carroll of Avoca, Iowa; sons John and wife Maria Carroll of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey; Patrick Carroll and husband Phillip Terronez of Des Moines, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Monica, Violet and Esther Carroll; sister Wilma "Jeanie" Klindt of Atlantic, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
