Florence Arline Johnk, daughter of William and Edith (Dieatrick) Lehnhardt, was born on December 11, 1927, in Anita, Iowa. She attended country school in Lincoln Township and graduated from Lewis, Iowa high school with the class of 1945.
After graduating from high school, Florence started teaching country school. On December 12, 1946, Florence was united in marriage to Virgil Schaaf Johnk in Oakland, Iowa. One son was born to this union.
Florence was a wife. mother, and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening sewing, cooking, crocheting, and needlepoint. Florence had a soft heart and loved to help people in need.
While living in Lewis, Iowa, Florence was a member of the Methodist Church. After her marriage to Virgil, she became a member of the Congregational Church in Oakland and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Walnut until her death.
Florence died on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa, having attained the age of seventy-nine years, eleven months, and twenty-seven days. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, and one sister Leverne Zellmer.
She is survived by her son Linn Johnk of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister Vera and her husband Milton Mueller of Walnut, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
