Floyd Henry Feser, the son of William J. and Anna (Greiner) Feser was born on September 9, 1917 near Defiance, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance and made his first communion and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth, Iowa. He attended grade school in rural Shelby County and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Portsmouth.
After graduation he worked in road construction and later attended Frye Aircraft in Omaha, Nebraska. He went to San Diego, California, where he was a flight mechanic at Lindbergh Air Field.
On June 1, 1946 he married Mary Ann Ohlinger at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved back to Portsmouth to farm the family farm, where they raised their family of four children Allen, Neil, Carole, and Brenda. They farmed until they moved to Harlan, Iowa in 1984. He especially enjoyed traveling the United States and in Europe. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus for over 60 years.
Floyd died on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Elm Crest Retirement Community attaining the age of one hundred and one years, three months and sixteen days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Ohlinger Feser, siblings Mary Ann Feser, Marjorie (Alfred) Ohlinger, Mark Feser and Joan (Jerold) Gangestad.
He is survived by his children Allen Feser of Covina, California; Neil Feser of Omaha, Nebraska; Carole and her husband Lee Uknes of Ankeny, Iowa; Brenda and her husband John Scieszinski of Norwalk, Iowa; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters Mildred Lang of Omaha, Nebraska; Joyce and her husband Leonard Graeve of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
