Frances Louise Hutcheson
June 17, 1942 — May 4, 2018
Frances Louise Hutcheson, was born June 17, 1942, to Harold Edwin and Marian Elizabeth (Chandler) McCord in Ames, Iowa. She was raised in Denison, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed at the First Methodist Church in Denison. Francie graduated from the Denison Community High School with the class of 1960 and went on to further her education at Iowa State University, Midwestern College, and the University of Colorado obtaining a BA in Philosophy.
Francie raised two daughters, Brooke and Alexis. On April 19, 2003, Francie re-married Kent Hutcheson in Denison, Iowa.
Francie spent 45 years teaching dance and yoga in her dance studio, the McCord School of Dance first in Denison and then in Ida Grove. She organized Dance for Heart, choreographed for the Siouxland Nutcracker, and taught at the Donna Reed Performing Arts Festival. Francie grew up with horses and her love of them continued throughout her life. In her youth, she was involved in the Crawford County Saddle Club, Silver Spurs Saddle Club, and went on to spend many hours with her children in the barn and saddle. She was active in 4-H as a member, leader, and supporter. In her college years Francie was a proud Kappa Kappa Gamma. After college Francie lived in San Francisco working at the Chandler Publishing Company as a secretary and computer technician before returning to Iowa and opening her dance school. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing needlework and spending time with her husband, family, and grandkids.
Francie passed away peacefully in her beloved home in Ida Grove on May 4, 2018 at the age of 75 surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold E. and Marian McCord, of Denison and her youngest child, Danielle Kee. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Kent Hutcheson of Pierre, SD; daughters, Brooke and husband David Mehaffey of Muscatine, IA and Alexis Kee of Des Plaines, IL; four grandchildren: Mac & Luke Mehaffey and Augustus & Ulysses Freitag; sisters: Becky Clymer of Nashville, TN, Merry Whitman of Memphis, TN, and Ruth and husband Andy Locklin of Birmingham, AL; plus many cherished friends and relatives.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Remembrances can be sent to the Gift of Life House in Rochester, MN in her memory.
