Francis Frank Schaben
January 17, 1963 — September 10, 2013
Francis Michael Schaben �Frank� was born on January 17, 1963 to Robert and Ardith (Henkelman) Schaben in Harlan, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter�s Catholic Church in Defiance, Iowa, raised on the family farm near Defiance, and graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1981.
On December 19, 1983, Frank and Kathy Jo Pullen were united in marriage in Denison, Iowa where he worked at the Farmland plant. They became proud parents to four children: Amanda, Tyler, Garrett, and Kayla. The family made their home in several locations: Storm Lake, Iowa, Monticello, Crete, Nebraska, and most recently Frank lived in Colorado. He worked in construction before doing landscaping work in the Boulder, Colorado area.
Frank had a deep passion for playing the drums and was very musically talented. He learned to play by ear and was in a band while growing up. He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and going for walks on nature trails.
He was delighted to become a grandfather in 2002 and again in 2005. He adored his granddaughters and loved to spend time with them. They kept him busy!
Frank died on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Boulder, Colorado having attained the age of fifty years, seven months, and twenty-four days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ardie.
He will be deeply missed by his children: Amanda and her husband Edwen Rodreguiz, Tyler Schaben and his fianc� Rachel, Garrett Schaben, and Kayla Schaben all of Crete, Nebraska; two grandchildren: Leah and Ciara; brothers and sisters: Jim Schaben and his wife Jackie of Denison, Iowa, Joe Schaben and his wife Joyce of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kenny Schaben of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bob Schaben and his wife Ruth of Harlan, Iowa, Bill Schaben and his wife Julie of Defiance, Iowa, Mary Ann and her husband Tom Sullivan of Dunlap, Iowa, and John Schaben and his wife Mary Jo of Defiance, Iowa; other family members and many friends.
Rev. Chris Fontanini celebrated the 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Inurnment was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Defiance, Iowa.
