Rocket Herning was born May 2, 1945 in Los Angeles, California. He custom built two race bikes “Ralph” and “Mariah”. He was an avid motorcycle racer and won many trophies over his racing career.
One of Rocket’s many jobs was escorting the Atlas missiles from California to Cape Canaveral. That is how he became known as “The Rocket Man” by his “Lost Angels Motorcycle Club”.
In 1988 he visited Harlan and met the love of his life Karen. They married and started their own painting business, R & K Finishing for 30 years.
He really loved the times camping and fishing with his grandkids. He loved woodworking and designing quilts with Karen.
Rocket passed away January 6, 2022. Rocket is survived by his wife Karen of 33 years; sons Thomas (Jackie) Schumacher; Roger (Jackie) Schumacher; Dan (Sarah) Schumacher; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
