Frank R. Pesek
October 12, 1934 — August 23, 2008
Frank Rudolph Pesek was born on October 12, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Frank and Mildred (Hunt) Pesek. He attended school at Youngman and graduated with the Class of 1952 from Omaha South High School.
On January 23, 1954, Frank was united in marriage to Dorothy Earnest at the courthouse in Papillion, Nebraska. Eight children were born to this union in the first ten years: Steve, Diane, Tom, Julie, Larry, Daniel, Connie, and Christine.
Frank worked as a mail carrier for thirty years with the Omaha Post Office. He retired in 1988 at the age of fifty-five. He also worked part-time as an upholstery worker in his home. He belonged to St. Bridget�s and thenAssumption Catholic Church in Omaha and was a member of the Eagles FOE in South Omaha.
He planted a garden every year with tomatoes, cucumbers, and dill and loved to make homemade dill pickles. He also enjoyed fishing and playing pool in Avoca with his friends.
Frank spent the last fifteen years of his life as a Walnut, Iowa, resident after a drive down the interstate brought him to town. He was a current member of St. Patrick�s Catholic Church in Walnut and the Knights of Columbus.
Frank died on Saturday, August 23, 2008, having attained the age of seventy-three years, ten months, and eleven days. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Frank is survived by his children: Steve Pesek and his wife Julie of Omaha, Nebraska, Diane and her husband Dave McCutcheon of San Antonio, Texas, Tom Pesek of San Antonio, Julie and her husband Anthony Miranda of Omaha, Larry Pesek of Omaha, Daniel Pesek of San Antonio, Connie and her husband Jeff Prokupek of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Christine and her husband Dave Spurgeon of Springfield, Nebraska; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother Rich Pesek and his wife Dolly of Papillion, Nebraska; other family members and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick�s Catholic Church in Walnut, Iowa with Rev. John Frost as the celebrant. Serving as Casket Bearers were Joe Rickley, Kyle Pesek, Anthony Miranda, Kory Pesek, Justin Rickley and Stephen D. Pesek. Interment was held at the Graceland Cemetery in Avoca, Iowa.
