He believed in soil conservation and was a pioneer in terracing the Jensen farm, which sets on one of the highest spots in Pottawattamie County. In 1968, he constructed five miles of terraces under a government program and was recognized with the top conservation award at the district and regional levels, and was second in the state.
Frode was a community minded person. He was a member of the Minden United Church of Christ. He served three times as a deacon and was on the committee to build the United Church of Christ and the parsonage. He belonged to the Minden Community Club and helped build the new community hall after a devastating tornado swept through Minden.
He was on the committee to reorganize the Minden School District, which ultimately joined the Tri-Center School District in 1968.
Frode was admitted to the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center on April 6, 2009 and it was there that he died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, having attained the age of eighty-eight years, eight months, and three days.
