Garrett Thomas Carroll

Garrett Thomas Carroll was born on April 16, 1994 in Harlan, Iowa. He was the firstborn child of Wray and Ann (Turner) Carroll. He surprised his parents when he was born with Down Syndrome. Garrett also developed Autism a few years later. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa on May 28, 1994.
At age three, he began attending AHST Pre-School and later attended Washington Elementary in Atlantic, Iowa. He loved going to Lynn Paulsen’s Daycare where he gained the name “Big Boy” or “Biggo” as his little sister later called him. He tolerated the rest of his schooling career, eventually graduating from AHST High School with the class of 2012.
He was an energetic child with beautiful eyes and a lopsided grin. He loved to clap and swing with his younger sisters, Delaney and Erin.
Garrett lived at home until he was a young man, then briefly went to live in Council Bluffs, Iowa. On April 2, 2014, he went to live with Mosaic in Denison, Iowa, a place he enjoyed and flourished. He loved his family, especially his daddy, whom he is now with in heaven.
He passed away on January 22, 2019 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of twenty-four years, nine months and six days.
He is preceded in death by his daddy Wray Carroll; grandpa Eldon Turner; grandparents Audrey and John Kenneth Carroll; aunt and uncle Faye and Dean Androy; uncle Roger Carroll.
He is survived by his momma Ann Carroll of Avoca, Iowa; sisters Delaney and Erin Carroll of Avoca, Iowa; grandma Mary Turner of Anita, Iowa; other mother Lucy Altamirano of Denison, Iowa; numerous family members and many friends.
