Gene Hans Mohr
Gene Hans Mohr was born at home on November 30, 1940 to J. Melvin and Elinore (Harder) Mohr. Gene attended Newton Country School and later Avoca Schools where he graduated with the class of 1958. Gene was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Avoca, Iowa and attended Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, Iowa.
After high school Gene went to work at Union Pacific Railroad for 11 years before beginning farming in 1969. At Union Pacific Gene met the love of his life Nancy Robinson. Gene and Nancy married in 1961. To this union five children were born: Jeff, Michelle, Jennifer, Katrina and Kristin.
Gene loved his children and grandchildren, farming, John Deere tractors, westerns, his wife’s cooking, and most of all just being with his family. Gene was widely known for his always present sense of humor. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. Gene had a wonderful and special time with Nancy building a new home in Waukee.
