Gene Elmer Thies

Gene Elmer Theis was born on April 3, 1950, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Elmer John and Gertrude Ellen (Biederman) Thies. He went to grade school and high school at Shelby-Tennant Community Schools in Shelby, Iowa.
Gene enjoyed growing up on the farm and farm life. Whenever he spoke about the farm, he always referred to the farm as “Dad’s Farm”. He had a strong work ethic being employed at AccessAbility Inc., in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he resided.
Gene died on January 27, 2017, surrounded by family, at Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis having attained the age of sixty-six years, nine months, and twenty-four days. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Charlene Thies. He is survived by his sisters Joan Brown of Euquay-Varina, North Carolina, and Gayle and her husband Robert Prokupek of Avoca, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other loving family and friends.
