Gerald Aldrich Peck
Gerald Aldrich Peck, son of Frank James Peck and Edna Aldrich Peck, was born on May 17, 1929, in Valley Township, Iowa and baptized in the Christian Church of Oakland.
He was the eldest of four children. Throughout his childhood, he lived on numerous farms in the area. He graduated from Avoca High School in 1947. Gerald spent the next four years working for Jim Leslie in machinery and driving school bus.
On August 20, 1950, Gerald wed Nadine Kohlscheen in the Congregational Church of Avoca, Iowa. In April 1951, Gerald joined the Army. During his two years of service, he was stationed in Texas, Kentucky, and Japan.
In 1953, He and Nadine purchased the Avoca Dairy and spent the next 18 years serving the area. Gerald and Nadine had two daughters, Connie in 1955 and Janet in 1960. Later in his life, he worked for Agriland FS and Five Star Tools.
Gerald served the Avoca community in many capacities through the years, including being elected Mayor, serving on the City Council, Zoning Planning Committee, Water, Park, and Fair Boards. Gerald was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years. He was an active member of the United Church of Avoca, where he served on the session. Gerald loved music and sang for many weddings and funerals. Gerald enjoyed dancing with his sweetheart and camping and fishing with friends and family. Gerald's greatest sources of pride were his grandchildren. He and Nadine were the grandchildren's most ardent supporters.
Gerald died on Monday May 23, 2016 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine, daughter, Connie (Greg) Feekes, daughter, Janet (Gary) Pattee; grandchildren, Abi (Nick) Case, John Feekes and significant other Taryn Ridley, Ross Jennings Aldrich Pattee and girlfriend Anne McCarthy, and Reed (Becky) Pattee; sister Joan (Don) Knott brother, Darrell Peck.
