Gloria Ann Bergman, daughter of Herman and Irma Larson Knief, was born July 12, 1927 at the family farm south of Kiron, Iowa. She attended school at Kiron, graduating with the class of 1945.
After school, she worked in Denison at the Dime Store and at a doctor’s office before marrying Lawrence (Gene) Bergman on October 30, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church. They were blessed with the gift of two children, Kim and Craig.
Gloria then spent 10 years being Gene’s driver for the Sioux City Journal and worked side by side with him doing the finishing work on the houses he built. They enjoyed their time together, traveling the world, including all 50 states except Alaska, most of the providences of Canada, as well as countries in Europe. Gloria was a wonderful cook, loving mother and grandmother. She also loved visiting and playing cards with her friends in Kiron and relaxing with a refresher at their winter home in Florence, Arizona.
Gloria passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa attaining the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 24 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cyrenus Knief and sister-in-law Lois Knief, and brothers-in-law Bruce Bergman and Wayne Petersen.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of over 67 years, Lawrence “Gene” Bergman; children: Kim and husband Jay Heiden of Denison, Iowa and Craig and wife Diane Bergman of Pasadena, California; grandchildren: Brandon and wife Sarah of Carrolton, Texas, Amber Bergman of Benbrook, Texas, and fiancé James Tarsha, Kyler Conn of Los Angeles, California, Conrad Heiden of Kiron, Iowa, and his special friend Rebecca Hibma, Jacob Heiden of Iowa City, Iowa, and Jaden Heiden of Denison, Iowa; great grandchildren: Evelyn and Olivia Bergman of Carrolton, Texas; sister Marian Petersen of Fort Dodge, Iowa, sister-in-law Jeannetta Knief of Denison, Iowa; many other relatives and friends.
