Harry G. Jensen, 95, passed away on March 17, 2023, in Sandusky at the Ohio Veterans Home. He was born on August 29, 1927 in Knox County, Iowa to the late Gudman and Margaret (Trede) Jensen. After high school, Harry served in the U.S. Navy helping to clean up in the Pacific after WWII.
Harry, known to his family and friends as Hooey, was a career truck driver. Though he did many jobs on his own, he mostly worked for Roadway. He was a huge fan of all Iowa Hawkeyes sports, because they are the best. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and taking long rides down by the lake. Harry was the kind of man you would want to know. With his quick wit and natural ability, he made it look easy to fix and solve any range of problems.
His family will remember him for the love and care he put into his relationships with them, especially his great-grandchildren. At his home, he was known as the king of the remote, which was a given if Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or a Western was on TV.
Left to cherish his memory is his granddaughter/daughter, Heather (Daniel) Cabral of Plain City, OH; step-children, Arlene Wetzel, Linda Mange, and Debra (Kevin) Bogner all of Fremont; grandchildren, Richard Jackson, Kirk Wetzel, Kent Wetzel, Tammy Tran, Dawn McCullough, Jason Swander, and Ryan Darga; great-grandchildren: Hana, Gabriel, and Miya Cabral; Elizabeth and Khristopher Swander; Cody Hrynciw and Tyler Tran; Brendon, Nick, and Taylor McCullough; Tasha, Maynard Jr., Timothy and Joseph Jackson; Caden, Issac, and Isabel Wetzel; Mikle and Jacob Wetzel; 10 great-great-grandchildren; niece, Janet (Paul) Firgens of Madison, WI and nephew, Dave Jensen of Springfield, NE.
Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; brothers, Richard, Edwin, and James Jensen; sister, Darlene Hosaple; and grandson Maynard E. Jackson.
