Helen Marie Frederick, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Kohl) Tremel, was born July 10, 1927, in Earling, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, Iowa. Helen attended country school and also St. Mary’s in Panama.
On May 7, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Albert Frederick at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, Iowa. After their marriage, Ty and Helen moved to a farm west of Earling where they worked together on the farm. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and seven children; Ron, Linda, Connie, JoAnn, Joyce, Judy, and Patti.
In 2008, Helen and Ty moved from the farm into Earling. Helen was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Altar Society all her married life, and enjoyed serving on the decorating committee for many years. Her love of sewing, quilting and gardening for the family continued throughout her life.
Helen died surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of ninety-one years, three months, and seven days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ty Frederick, daughter Joyce Naber, siblings Edward Tremel, Leona Buckley, Alphonse Tremel, Raymond Tremel, John Tremel, Joseph Tremel, Jr., Leonard Tremel and Mary Agnes Gross.
She is survived by her children Ron Frederick and his wife Deb of Earling, Iowa; Linda Drumm of Centennial, Colorado; Connie and her husband Larry Stoke of Atlantic, Iowa; JoAnn and her husband Val McPhearson of Omaha, Nebraska; Judy and her husband John Schrecengost of Walnut, Iowa; Patti and her husband Don Bogler of Harlan, Iowa; son-in-law Dave Naber of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 19 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; siblings Charles Tremel and his wife Bonnie of Omaha, Nebraska; Kenneth Tremel and his wife Betty of Panama, Iowa; Ralph Tremel and his wife Elaine of Panama, Iowa; brother-in-law Bud Weis of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
