Helen Laurell Jensen was born on August 24, 1918 to Harry and Nina (Nelson) Norgaard in Harlan, Iowa. She attended Laurel Elementary School and graduated from Harlan High School.



On July 3, 1944, Helen was united in marriage to Raymond Jensen in Miami, Florida, where he was stationed with the United States Air Force during World War II. After the war they moved back to Harlan where he managed an auto body and paint shop.



They also lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for several years, twenty-one years in New Brighton, Minnesota, and then in Lakewood, Colorado.



After Raymond’s death, Helen went to live with Tom and Joanne Heilesen in New Jersey. She then moved back to the Midwest to live with Jim and Cindy Heilesen until she entered an assisted living facility in 1999. It was at Salem Lutheran Nursing Home in Elk Horn, Iowa, that she died on Monday, August 18, 2014, having attained the age of ninety-five years, eleven months, and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, and sister and brother-in-law Jean and Donald Heilesen.



She is survived by her nephews Jim Heilesen and his wife Cindy of Kimballton, Iowa, Tom Heilesen and his wife Joanne of Keyport, New Jersey, Jerry Jensen and his wife Treva, Dan Jensen and his wife Shirley and Vincent Jensen and his wife Phyllis, all of Audubon, Iowa; nieces Joan and her husband Jerry Davis of Camdenton, Missouri and Margery Knudsen of Audubon, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
