Helen Mae Krueger was born in Denison, Iowa, January 30, 1923, the daughter of Eldor and Helen Mae Malone Lehfeldt. She was raised in Denison where she graduated from high school with the class of 1941. Helen furthered her education at the American School of Commerce in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha, before graduating from Western Union School there as an Automatic Operator in 1943. Following her schooling until her marriage she was employed in Omaha.On June 30, 1945, Helen was united in marriage with PFC Duane F. Krueger of the U.S. Marines at the First United Methodist Parsonage in Denison. Their union was blessed with two children, Keith and Cassandra. They made their home on the farm at Deloit and while Duane attended college at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Helen was employed in the college library. In 1958 they moved from the farm into Deloit and she was later employed at Anthony’s Department Store in Denison for eleven years. Duane died August 26, 1985, and Helen remained in their home in Deloit until 2004 when she moved to Denison.She was a long time active member of the Methodist Church in Deloit and later in Denison and enjoyed a life long membership in the Deloit American Legion Auxiliary.In her leisure time she loved making quilts, all done by hand, working puzzles, reading and walking, and was proud to have been a cancer survivor.Since September 1, 2016, she had resided at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison.Helen died Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 93 years, 7 months and 13 days.She was preceded in death by her parents Eldor and Helen Mae Lehfeldt, husband, Duane, one brother, Eldor Lehfeldt, Jr., and one sister, Betty Carter.Those remaining to cherish her memory include one son Keith (Karen) Krueger of Maquoketa, Iowa, one daughter, Cassandra (Dennis) Meyer of Lake View, Iowa, three grandchildren: Lindsay Krueger of Durham, North Carolina, Eric Meyer of Lake View, Iowa, and Tyler (Ariana) Krueger of Grimes, Iowa; one step granddaughter: Kimberly (Robbie) Akins of Cedar Crossing, Georgia; one great granddaughter: Lydia Rae Krueger of Grimes, Iowa, two step great-grandchildren: Dean White and Grayson Akins of Cedar Crossing, Georgia; one sister: Margaret Ann (Loren) Baxter of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother-in-law: Al Lutz of Omaha, Nebraska; other relatives and friends.Graveside memorial services and inurnment were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Deloit Cemetery, Deloit, Iowa, with the Rev. Jan Burnett officiating. Music for the service included a recording of Daniel O’Donnell singing “Amazing Grace”. A visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Denison. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
