Ida L. Heim
February 3, 1924 — March 17, 2019
Ida Louise Heim, daughter of Scott and Louise (Goersch) Kirk, was born on February 3, 1924 near Springview, Nebraska. She attended country school in Keya Paha County, Nebraska through the eighth grade and went on to attend Springview High School and graduated with the class of 1942. After high school, Ida attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska and upon completion joined Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska where she worked for two years.
On October 4, 1945, Ida was united in marriage to Harry William “Bill” Heim at Kountz Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Four sons were born to this union: Larry, Ronald, Keith and Roger. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm between Logan and Persia, Iowa. In 1993, Ida and Bill retired from farming and later moved to Harlan in 1995.
Ida was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed being a homemaker raising her boys on the family farm where she was active with them as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts. She served on the Harrison County 4H Board and was named Homemaker of the Year by the Harrison County Extension Service. She was a long time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan where she was active with the mission quilt group and the ILCW.
Ida died on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of ninety-five years one month and fourteen days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her sons: Larry Heim and his wife Rita of Ralston, Nebraska; Ronald Heim and his wife Linda of Chandler, Arizona; Keith Heim and his wife Deb of Algona, Iowa and Roger Heim and his wife Kim of Chariton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
