Ione Marie Hinners, a loving and kind-hearted individual, passed away on 10/18/2024. Her life was filled with love, dedication, and a passion for helping others. Ione was born on February 24, 1937, in Carroll County, Iowa, to parents Joseph and Margaret (Irlbeck) Mueggerberg.
On October 26, 1957, she married Robert (Bob) E Hinners at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. The couple settled in Denison, Iowa, where they began a new chapter in their lives together. Together they were blessed with four beautiful children, Theresa, Joe, Tammy and Tracey.
Ione's educational background was rooted in St. Bernard's Catholic School, where she received her education. Her dedication to her faith and education was evident throughout her life.
Ione was actively involved in her local church community. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she dedicated her time and talents. Ione served as a Eucharistic minister for well over 20 years, providing spiritual nourishment to those in need. Additionally, she led Saturday night Rosary services, offering solace and reflection to those who attended. Ione also assisted in working funerals and bingo events, demonstrating her commitment to her church community.
In addition to her religious involvement, Ione made a significant impact at St. Rose School. She served as a custodian for many years, dedicating herself to ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the school. Her attention to detail and hard work were invaluable in creating a safe and welcoming environment for students.
In 1974, Ione embarked on a new chapter in her career when she started working for Bohlman Inc., a construction company. She quickly learned many different skills, including pouring cement, building forms, and even constructing houses. Ione worked closely with carpenters and acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at Bohlman Inc., gaining valuable knowledge and making lasting friendships.
Ione's love for the outdoors was evident in her hobbies. She enjoyed camping and fishing, finding solace and relaxation in nature. However, her greatest love was gardening and her flowers. She had a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating beautiful gardens that brought joy to all who saw them. It was her greatest joy to spend as much time as she could with her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ione will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those she left behind, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Hinners, and her cherished son, Joe Hinners. She was also predeceased by her parents, Joe and Margaret (Irlbeck) Mueggenberg, her brothers Vernon Mueggenberg, Joe Mueggenberg Jr., and Louis Mueggenberg, as well as her sisters, Darlene Brincks and Shirley Gallagher.
Survivors include Theresa Schramm (Rick) of Denison, Tammy Bright (Darryl) of Omaha, and Tracey Reetz (Scott) of Denison, Justin Hinners (Lori) of Carroll, CJ Loughran (Elizabeth) of Omaha, Alex Loughran , Emily Loughran , and Ian Loughran all from Omaha, Davey Reetz, Aaron Reetz, Jacob Reetz, and Dylan Reetz are all from Denison, Amber Hinners of Schleswig and Ashly Hinners of Carroll, As well as her sister in laws Ella Mueggenberg of Carroll and Margie (Roy) Rosener of Rodney.
Funeral Mass will be conducted on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Cronin officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 4 PM until 6 PM at Pauley Jones Funeral Home. Rosary Service will be conducted at 6 PM.
